William Notte spent seven years as the acquisitions editor for a publishing house. During this time he reviewed (and rejected) thousands of book proposals. This presentation, recorded and hosted by the Burlington Writers Workshop at Hotel Vermont, will walk you through the process of pitching your book (fiction or nonfiction) and point out common mistakes even experienced writers make that could lead to a book's rejection. You'll learn why you shouldn't get too excited about your idea for your book's cover, what words/phrases you should avoid in your pitch letter, and how self-publishing primes you for traditional publishing.
